- Sixth International Symposium

Synopsis

The ICAV Sixth International Symposium will assemble leading scientists, public health experts, industry representatives, and government officials to advance the development of affordable and effective anti-viral therapeutics for infectious viral diseases, with an emphasis on avian influenza.

ICAV will endeavor to cover costs for attendees (registration and accommodation is provided at no charge), but at this time can only guarantee travel (economy only) reimbursement of $500 for Canadian and $1,000 for International delegates.

• May 4, 2008 – ICAV Scientific Symposium
• May 5, 2008 – International Public Health: The Need for Anti-virals
• May 6, 2008 – Industry and Markets: The Influenza Drug Pipeline

Key objectives of the Symposium are:

• Baseline the state of anti-viral research and drug development for neglected and emerging viral diseases.
• Present the urgent need for anti-viral drugs and vaccines in public health policy.
• Foster worldwide collaboration between scientists, governments, public health officials, industry and other stakeholders on anti-viral research and development.

Attendance is open to the public and free of charge on days 2 and 3 of the program and by invitation only on day 1. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited.

The Symposium will take place at Trent University in Peterborough, Canada (May 4 and 5) and the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, Canada (May 6).
